Oh, the Places You'll Go
Oh, the Places You'll Go
It's one of my favorite Dr. Seuss books. I love everything that this book has to say even now as an adult.
"Today is your day. You're off to Great Places! You're off and away!"
What a great way to start off a book. Everyday is YOUR day. Everyday is MY day. If you have this mentality life is a little easier. It's hard because sometimes in this journey of life, we can feel lost, overwhelmed, disappointed, happy, excited, and every other emotion in between all within a moment's time. A curve ball that can be thrown at any time seems like it is always waiting to be hurled at you when you least expect it. But that doesn't always have to be a bad thing. Sometimes it's just what you need whether you knew it or not.
It's only been ten months since we sold our home in Louisiana and moved to Texas and I'm already packing again to move next week. When we left, we had plans on being on the road from place to place over the next several years. We had no idea that in a very short amount of time we would be led right back to a place we consider home. A full circle right back to Louisiana. Wow...I never saw that coming.
So we found out that we were moving back to Louisiana, and then there were a whole lot of unknowns. Where will we live? How long will we live apart from each other? Is this the right decision? Do we want to go back home? Are we ready for that yet? How long will we be there this time?
There is a part in the book that reads : "And when things start to happen, don't worry. Don't stew. Just go right along. You'll start happening too." Sounds easier than it actually is, but once I did stop worrying about all of the details, things fell into place and most of my questions were answered for now. Didn't happen immediately, but I dug down and found my trust and my patience (I struggle severely with this) and let God do the rest. Not easy for us humans who want to control every aspect of our lives ourselves. Yep, I am definitely talking to myself here.
So for now we are moving back to Louisiana for one year at least. After that...who knows.
What I do know is every step of this journey so far is evolving me into a better person, a more loving wife, a more appreciative friend, and a more faithful woman.
Oh, the places you'll go and I'll go. And oh, the things we will learn about ourselves in the process. I am pretty sure there are some pretty amazing things waiting for us in these places we will find ourselves.
"So...be your name Buxbaum or Bixby or Bray or Mordecai Ali Van Allen O'Shea, you're off to Great Places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting. So...get on your way!"
P.S. I know you are wondering about that beautiful camper that I have pictured. I would be. That beauty is what my husband is living in right now while we are enduring this long distance hoo-ha, that honestly is for the birds. I know you are thinking that he got the short end of the stick on that one, but honestly I tried to talk him out of it. If you knew Canean, these living arrangements would not surprise you one bit! For now he calls it his "lap of luxury" although I am not so sure that I would agree with his idea of luxury...
