Irish Whiskey Mules
St. Patrick's Day is right around the corner which means that even if you aren't Irish you can pretend for the day and drink and eat all things green! Here in Louisiana, we have a huge St. Patrick's Day parade that runs the Saturday before St. Patty's Day and really it's just another excuse for us to throw a party, get beads, and day drink. Not a bad idea really, and we live right off of the parade route so we will be walking to partake in the festivities. I will be serving up Irish Whiskey Mules for the day (for everyone but myself) and I gotta say I'm loving this twist on the classic Moscow Mule.
If you are a ginger beer lover, then you are going to love my Irish mule and it's perfectly green to celebrate the holiday. Throw in some Irish nachos, and you've got yourself a real party. Right now, I am totally more interested in the nachos...but my love of crafting cocktails has not gone away since becoming pregnant, I just have to find taste testers now, which usually is not a problem! I can't let you all go the next 6 1/2 months with no beverages just because I'm not drinking, that would just be cruel.
This cocktail is great for a party because there are only three ingredients and it's super easy to mix up for a large group of people, although it's equally as easy if you are mixing up a solo cup for yourself. And when I say solo cup, that definitely can mean a red solo cup or just the singular kind...it's open for interpretation.
Get yourself in the Irish spirit, make this cocktail, and let me know how you like it!
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 Oz. Irish Whiskey (or regular whiskey)
- 1 Ginger Beer
- Juice from 1 Lime, plus extra wedges for garnish
Directions:
- Mix all ingredients together in a cocktail shaker with a couple of ice cubes and then strain into a cocktail glass.
- Garnish with a lime wedge and serve immediately.
Cheers! And may the luck of the Irish be with you!
