Persimmon and Rosemary Boozy Booch
This has been the never ending week guys...I don't know what is going on, but I could not be any more excited that tomorrow is Friday! Between being a mom to a toddler and all that comes with it, all the while trying to balance a busy work week, it's just been one of those challenging mama weeks around our house! One thing that I always have on hand for an afternoon pick me up is kombucha! I seriously love this stuff and it definitely gives me a little energy boost when I need it most! I don't know why it has never dawned on me until now to put a little booze in it, but man I am glad I finally did! My persimmon and rosemary boozy booch is the perfect fall cocktail to kick off your weekend!
Are you a kombucha fan already? If not, I think you should definitely give it a try! It's loaded with probiotics that are great for your gut and help keep your immune system healthy! Parks only drinks milk and water, but will ask for juice occasionally and so I give him watered down kombucha as his juice! He loves it and I love knowing he is getting some good probiotics in his tummy on top of the ones he takes daily!
If I am traveling and have been without kombucha for a few days I can tell a difference, and you may think that sounds crazy, but I am telling you that it keeps my tummy happy! In high school and college I was a Diet Coke girl and would look so forward to one every single day...what was I thinking? I do not like it anymore and rarely drink a coke of any sort, but my kombucha has become my daily treat that I look forward to now...well that and an evening glass of red wine!
Perimmons are in season right now and I just love how beautiful they are and delicious too! I make ricotta persimmon toast with them, eat them as is, and make a persimmon punch with the gorgeous fruit, so I knew they would work perfectly with the kombucha! I added in some rosemary that works so nicely with a little gin and the end result is a really yummy drink perfect for the season!
I think all of our weekend plans should include a glass or two of my persimmon and rosemary boozy booch, don't you?
Ingredients:
8 Oz. Original Kombucha (non-flavored)
4 Oz. Gin
2 Persimmons
1 Tbsp. Fresh Rosemary
Crushed Ice
Directions:
Take the leaves off the persimmons and chop roughly.
Blend the persimmons with the rosemary and the gin until smooth.
Strain out the liquid through a fine mesh strainer (or leave the pulp as is) and chill.
Fill two glasses with crushed ice and pour the persimmon juice over top of the ice.
Top off the glasses with kombucha and give it a slight stir.
Garnish with a persimmon slice and a sprig of rosemary and serve immediately.
Note: If you want your cocktail sweeter, feel free to add a simple syrup or a little honey into the mix! The kombucha and the persimmons create a subtle sweetness to the cocktail that to me, doesn't need any extra! Simply adjust to your taste.
I have been playing around with the idea of making my own kombucha at home to save money and because I think it would be so fun to mix flavors! Have any of you done it before? If so, leave some pointers for me! I'm all ears!
Cheers!
