DIY Candy Bar Flurries

Summertime is here, and it’s that time of year where we enjoy more cool treats to help us survive the heat of the season. Ice cream is one of my favorite ways to stay cool, and my family is always on board with enjoying a frozen treat. I created a fun way to incorporate my favorite candy bars Butterfinger®, Crunch®, and Baby Ruth® into vanilla ice cream to make everybody happy all summer long. I love to create a DIY candy bar for homemade flurries where your family and friends can create their ultimate summer treat.
I like to stock up on all of the candy bar and ice cream essentials at my favorite grocery store, HEB, where I grab everything I needed to create a fun flurry candy bar right in the candy aisle and in the freezer section. HEB is always my go-to for groceries, because not only do they carry the best selection of products, but the staff is friendly and the environment is always a pleasant shopping experience. I decided to use Butterfinger, Crunch, and Baby Ruth for my candy bar options because they just so happen to be my family’s favorites.
I am a Baby Ruth girl all the way because I love the new and improved recipe with dry roasted peanuts, caramel , and the chewy bite it has—whereas my hubby is a Butterfinger guy all the way. He loves the peanut-buttery flavor and the crispy texture that it gives the ice cream, and my son always goes for the Crunch® because he loves the classic chocolate flavor and crisped rice inside. I mean let’s be honest, I love them all, but I love the idea of a DIY bar where you can set all of the options up. Everyone gets to add as much or as little of the candy bars to their ice cream, before turning them into creamy flurries to be enjoyed by all!
Of course if you really want to get crazy, you could add a little bit of the Butterfinger, Crunch, and Baby Ruth into one flurry for the ultimate chocolate experience, or you can stick to the classic and just use your favorite bar. Either way, you are going to love setting up a DIY chocolate bar flurry experience for your family and friends all summer long.
Ingredients:
1 Cup Vanilla Ice Cream
1/4 Cup Chopped Butterfinger®, Crunch®, or Baby Ruth® Fun Size bars
Cherries for Topping (optional)
Directions:
Place a metal bowl into the freezer for 10 minutes. (I use a stand mixer.)
After bowl is thoroughly chilled, add ice cream to the bowl and mix with paddle attachment until ice cream is soft serve texture. You can alternatively use a hand mixer for this part.
Add your pick of Butterfinger®, Crunch®, or Baby Ruth® and then fold in candy bar pieces until fully incorporated. If you have a stand mixer with a paddle attachment you can use this to incorporate, otherwise use a spatula to mix in so you keep nice chunks of candy bar in the ice cream.
Spoon into glasses and top with a cherry if desired.
Repeat the process for each flurry and serve immediately.
Make your summer extra sweet and head to HEB to grab your Butterfinger, Crunch and Baby Ruth and the rest of your DIY candy bar flurry essential ingredients for the ultimate summer treat!
