Meyer Lemon Bourbon Mule

Christmas is 12 days away! I repeat, 12 days away! AHHHHH. I mean I’m so excited for it, but I also have about a bajillion things on my to-do list to get done before we go to my parents house next weekend! I feel like I am alway so excited for the holidays and then BAM it’s over in a flash! I wish we could just pause the actual week of Christmas and put it in slow motion so we could soak it up just a little bit more! Things like soaking up time with friends and family, savoring good food, and sipping festive cocktails! My meyer lemon bourbon mule is one of those cocktails that you should definitely be sipping during all of your holiday festivities!

A good cocktail is necessary for the holidays if you ask me! There is something about a special drink being served to loved ones that is just so festive! Bourbon is one of those spirits that just is the epitome of Christmas time drinks! From egg nog to on the rocks, bourbon is a must in the winter months!

I took a classic mule recipe and put a little holiday spin on it to make it extra special for all of your holiday gatherings! I swapped the traditional lime for one of my favorite winter citruses, meyer lemon, and swapped the traditional vodka with bourbon instead! The result is refreshing and delicious and the meyer lemon and bourbon pair perfectly with the ginger beer to create the best cocktail! Not the mention, that they are so pretty too!

A meyer lemon kind of tastes like a cross between a lemon and a mandarine or clementine! So if you for some reason you can’t find meyer lemons where you live, simply do half lemon juice and half clementine juice to create a similar taste!

You are going to love how easy this cocktail is to whip up for your guests and you can be sure that they will love it too!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 Cup Meyer Lemon Juice

  • 4 Oz. Bourbon of Choice

  • 1 Tbsp. Honey

  • Ginger Beer for Topping

  • Mint for Garnish

Directions:

  • In a cocktail shaker combine lemon juice, bourbon, and honey with a few ice cubes and shake until combined well and honey has dissolved.

  • Pour over crushed ice and top off with ginger beer.

  • Take fresh mint and slap it over the cocktail to release the aroma and then garnish for just a hint of mint while sipping.

  • Serve immediately.

Note: Recipe makes 2 cocktails.

I can’t wait for you all to try out these meyer lemon bourbon mules! You are going to love them! Cheers friends and happy holidays!
