Spinach Artichoke Pan Pizza
Homemade pizza is always a good idea if you ask me. We regularly have pizza night at our house and one of my favorite ways to make a pizza that is always delicious is to bake it in a cast iron skillet. Baking your pizza in a skillet ensures your crust is crispy and perfect every single time. I have a few favorite ways to top it, but a pizza that will quickly become a favorite in your house is my spinach artichoke pizza. This recipe for spinach artichoke pan pizza is going to quickly become one of your new favorite pizza recipes that you make over and over again.
I made this recipe a while back over on my Instagram page and somehow forgot that it needed a permanent home here. But, better late than never if you ask me. If you love the classic spinach artichoke combo then you are going to flip for this pizza. I add another depth of flavor here by roasting a whole head of garlic and then slathering the golden delicious cloves over the crust before adding the cheese. Talk about a flavor explosion, it is out of this world truly. I also use a pepper jack cheese for a little heat and keep big chunks of artichoke for every bite. This pizza is mouthwateringly delicious let me tell ya.
The crust gets nice and crispy thanks to our handy dandy cast iron skille which ensures this pizza truly comes out and tastes like restaurant quality every single time.
Let’s chat about some questions you might have:
If you don’t have a cast iron skillet, you can definitely make this same recipe on a baking sheet or other pizza pan.
If you don’t like a little heat, just swap the pepper jack cheese for a white cheddar instead.
If you want to cut up the artichoke into smaller pieces, feel free to do so.
I have a homemade pizza dough recipe that I love to use, but you can also pick up fresh dough from your favorite pizza shop or get one from your local grocery store. Most groceries have fresh dough in the freezer section.
If you aren’t a huge fan of garlic, simply reduce the amount you use on the crust or omit altogether, but I highly recommend trying it with the garlic.
Ingredients:
1 Fresh Pizza Dough (store bought or homemade)
2 Cups Grated Pepper Jack Cheese
1 Cup Sliced Jarred Marinated Artichokes, drained of the liquid
2 Cups Baby Spinach
1 Head of Garlic
2 Tbsp. Olive Oil
1 Tsp. Salt
1/2 Tsp. Pepper
1 Tsp. Red Chili Flake
1 Tsp. Cornmeal
Directions:
Preheat oven to 425 degrees and slice head of garlic in half, drizzle with 1 Tbsp. Olive Oil and 1/4 Tsp. Salt and wrap in aluminum foil and then roast for 30 minutes until garlic is golden and tender.
Up the oven temperature to 475 degrees.
Place iron skillet into the hot oven for 10 minutes while you roll out the pizza dough.
Take skillet out of the oven and sprinkle cornmeal evenly on the bottom of the skillet.
Place rolled out pizza dough into the skillet so it just fits.
Brush the remaining olive oil over the top of the dough to evenly coat the bottom.
Remove the roasted garlic cloves from their shells and smash onto the crust so that every area has a little garlic.
Sprinkle evenly with cheese.
Top with baby spinach, artichokes, and a little more cheese.
Sprinkle the remaining salt and pepper over top and bake for 20 minutes until crust is golden brown.
Add red chili flakes at the end if desired and serve immediately.
I mean, how good does this pizza look? You have to make this recipe soon, you are going to love it.
