It's almost Friday! We have officially almost made it through the first full week back to normal life after the holidays. And I have officially almost made it through one full week of detoxing my body and trying to recoup some of the damage that I did over the month of December. I am sharing with you one of my most favorite ways to flush the bad stuff from your body when it needs it most! Citrus detox water will have your body feeling refreshed and more than likely a little bit lighter in no time!
I happen to love just regular ole water and drink a ton of it on a regular basis, but when I need to kick it up a notch, I add some power ingredients to assist in flushing my body. This usually happens after the holidays or after a very indulgent weekend.
This is great for you non-water lovers out there because the citrus and mint and cucumber flavor the water, and I'm telling you that it is so refreshing you won't be able to get enough! The only downside here is that you will be frequenting the bathroom quite a bit, but you are going to feel so great, even after day one!
I figured that since most people I know are trying to be healthy this month, I should skip a real cocktail this week and go for the detox water instead because we all could benefit from this recipe!
It's super simple to make. Just make up a big pitcher and then just keep adding fresh water for up to two days before making a new batch. You don't even have to think about it, just try to drink a pitcher a day and you will be good to go.
Ingredients:
- 64 oz. of Water
- 1 Sliced Grapefruit
- 2 Sliced Lemons
- 2 Sliced Cucumbers
- 1 Handful of Fresh Mint Leaves, torn
Directions:
- Slice all fruit and cucumbers and place inside of a pitcher. Add water. Use the back end of a wooden spoon or a muddler and smash the fruit to release some flavor. Refrigerate.
- You can add new water to the citrus slices, cucumber, and mint after the first day to use it again the next day.
It's a gorgeous drink and even know you might be missing your cocktail for the week, your body will thank you in the end! Cheers!
