Five Doses of Happiness

Sometimes in my life I tend to not pay attention to the little things, these things that I take for granted.  Regular day to day activities or people that are responsible, in some part for my happiness on a daily basis.  Well lately, there are five doses of happiness in my everyday that are making me happy from the inside out.

Number One...

As silly as it is, something that is bringing me joy is a Free People vest that I recently bought when I went to New Orleans for the day.  It's beautiful really, and I fell in love as soon as I saw it.  Let the record state, I cannot be trusted to go into Free People without buying something.  I am not sure it has ever happened, which would be a reason that my husband would like me to stay far away...but let's be honest...that is a little too much to ask I think.

Anyway back to the vest, since living in it's new home in my closet, I have worn it once, but have tried it on almost everyday with a new option of how I can wear it (I wish I was kidding).  I have been reverting to my five year old self in my mom's closet with her high heels on.  The only reason I don't wear this vest everyday, is because really I just don't go enough places, but I think I just need to start wearing it to the grocery just because.  I can see it has a bright future as being my new go-to outfit, considering I have about 50 outfit options for it...thanks to my dressing up in the bedroom everyday.  I promise I do productive things throughout the day as well... :)

Now that you have seen it, you understand why it had to come home with me right?

Number two...

And this one guys, I have to get sappy on ya here...but one of the brightest spots of everyday is when my cutie patootie husband gets home after work.  I hope that you don't think that he comes after the vest in priority order, because he doesn't at all...it's just the way I'm rolling it out...let's not read too much into it.

That's him above...kind of dreamy huh? But seriously, he makes me so happy...not only because of our life together, but because everyday I laugh hysterically, everyday he takes me as I am (and today guys I would probably not win the wife of the year award, but we can skip over that little tid bit, everyone has their off days right?), everyday he is my best friend, my relief from the day and life's problems, he's that little safety net that I get to escape to at 5:00 when his smiling face comes through the door.  That's my happy right there...and really I would be fine with just that...his love and partnership, all the other things are just gravy.  I am beyond blessed in the soul mate/life partner/husband/ department.

Number three...

Switching gears completely here on ya...

And of course it has something to do with food. Duh.

You may or may not have seen a picture on my Instagram feed a while back of my new favorite breakfast.  No?  Well, let me tell you about it.

I am currently obsessed with Whole Wheat Toast topped with a ricotta/yogurt spread that has cracked black pepper, and then is topped with honey and berries...trust me it's going to change your breakfast world.

I get so excited to eat it every morning it's almost sad...but it's not...it's happy.  It just starts my day off with a smile, that and a happy belly.  Don't you worry, there will be a post coming soon devoted to just this toast, so you can celebrate with me every morning and we can all do the ricotta toast happy dance at breakfast.

Number Four...

If you know anything about me by now, you would expect that my furry boys would make an appearance on this list.  And if you guessed that, you are right.  But in particular, I just received two watercolor portraits of Amos and Rutledge by an artist named Becky Guarisco.  Who just happens to be the sister of a dear friend and shares the same love of animals as I do.

GORGEOUS right?  I am so in love, y'all I literally got emotional when I saw each of them for the first time!  She just captures their personalities and the expression on their face so amazingly!  And the way that she uses the colors to define each dog....whhaatt??  So talented!

I am going to get them framed obviously, but in the meantime they are on the mantle and every time I walk past them they make me happy.

Number Five...

Speaking of Amos and Rutledge, every morning at 9:00 on the dot, if I do not have my tennis shoes on ready to walk them, they stalk me down and wait for me to change and grab their leashes.  How do they know what time it is??  Ridiculous if you ask me.   But lately, these walks have been another bright spot in my day.  The weather has been just right and everywhere you look there are new flowers sprouting up saying "it's Spring, it's Spring!"

These walks are where the sunshine peaks through the trees warm on my shoulders, and I discover new flowers that seem to be waving at me as I walk by...those walks quite possibly are the best kind of therapy, only adding to my daily dose of happiness.

Maybe this week while you are out and about, at home with your family, or whatever it is you are doing, you can take some time to see the little things to be grateful for in your everyday life.  You might just find yourself surprisingly happy!

What's your current happiness?  I would love for you to share!
