Oh man it's been a week guys. I am so desperately trying to get back into doing multiple recipes each week for My Diary of Us, and if I'm being completely honest, it's been a challenge with my little dude following me around everywhere. Don't get me wrong I love him more than anything, but man he can wear a mama out. I would be lying if I said there weren't days when I await the five o'clock hour to approach so I can have a cocktail and to see daddy walk through the door! My single serving stone fruit sangria is the perfect cocktail to whip up any night of the week and now you don't have to make a pitcher of it to enjoy one of your summertime favorites!
Fridays and cocktails...we have talked about this before. They just go together right? You've had a hard week, you have been waiting for today since the moment you woke up to go to work on Monday, and it's finally here! You need a cocktail, I get it. I have your back. I have a cocktail recipe for you to make this weekend so you don't even have to think about it! It's not just any ole sangria...it's peach and blueberry sangria!
By now you know that I went blueberry picking last week and that I have basically been putting blueberries in anything and everything that I possibly can! So naturally it only made sense when I was making a sangria that blueberries should be included. And peaches just seemed like the natural choice for another fruit to add since I had some fresh and local ones from the farmer's market! And they do pair quite nicely together!
It's refreshing and perfect for quenching your thirst on a hot day. Or you know what? It would be amazing at your Fourth of July party! It's so pretty...AND you can make a big pitcher of it the night before!
Because the last thing you need to do on the day of a party is worry about mixing up a batch of cocktails. But even if you aren't having a party go ahead and make the sangria! It will keep in the fridge for a couple of days so I think you will be able to handle it yourself.
I'm sure most of you know this about me, but for those of you who don't...wait for it...I'm a huge fan of wine! Shocker I'm sure... Most of the time a glass of one of my favorites is great on its own. However, during the holidays it's nice to make cocktails that I don't usually take the time to do during the rest of the year.
Sangria is one of those drinks that is great to make because you can make a large batch of it ahead of time, it's easy, and most people enjoy drinking it. There are so many ways to make it, that you can really cater it to a specific holiday, or time of year, and you can use whatever fruits you have in the fridge.
So in the spirit of Thanksgiving and the fact that Christmas is right around the corner, I thought that making a cranberry sangria seemed appropriate for the time of year!
This Spiced Cranberry and Orange Sangria is the perfect drink to serve at any holiday party that you throw or attend for the rest of the year. It's tart from the cranberries, spicy from the cinnamon stick and oranges, and has just enough sweetness to balance it all out from the cranberry simple syrup. Not to mention it looks super festive! Yum.
Is it cocktail time yet?
