A good table linen in like putting on your lipstick right before you walk out the door. Your makeup might look great, but unless those lips are done the look isn't complete (so my mom still tells me). It's like setting your plate at dinner, without the right linen the setting isn't complete either. A great napkin or a beautiful table linen can take your plate of food or tablescape to the next level. Everybody needs good linens in their kitchen and I just happened to have discovered my new favorite. Celina Mancurti table linens and handscreen printed fabrics have me itching to add several new styles to my linen collection!
Let me introduce you to the talented Celina Mancurti. Celina is originally from Argentina and found herself working in the textile industry printing silks for ties where she witnessed handcrafted techniques shift to computers and realized she wanted to be a part of preserving the beauty and craft of textile making. She went on to several other jobs in the textile industry and ended up in the United States when she followed her husband here. Celina ended up teaching textiles at a university where she couldn't shake her dream and passion of making handmade textiles.
After a trip home to Argentina, she packed two flat screens and a few of her grandmother's buttons and soon began printing her own textiles in her basement. In 2008, Celina mailed her first table linen to Pennsylvania and soon after opened her Etsy shop with only six linen options. This led her to where she is today with her very own eco-friendly table and kitchen linens collection, a hand-printed fabric line, and her latest project, the Wedding Collection.
Her products are eco-friendly due to the fact that they are made from flax plant, the collection is fully hand-screen printed with water based inks and with no post-printing chemical finishes applied, the stitches are done from organic cotton thread, and all tags are made from 100% recycled paper.
Products like this adorable" vegetable" tea towel that I am officially obsessed with...it's pretty great right?
Celina's passion for handcrafted textiles mixed with her creative eye is the reason her linens stand out to me in an industry where short cuts are usually taken and quality suffers. This tea towel is just one example of her quality work and I have loved seeing it hanging in my kitchen everyday! A touch of quirk mixed with a classic feel is my absolute favorite.
I see Celina's vision of wanting to create a practical and simple linen that stays in the family for generations to come. I love the idea that the linens that I am using in my kitchen will also be used by my children and their children to make tables and kitchens not only beautiful, but will contain history from several generations of cooks past.
It is rare to find a product that is handcrafted, unique, and that is also practical in the kitchen. Because that's the thing...you can use these linens and wash them, they aren't just for looks!
If love supporting artisans and products that are still being handcrafted, then you have to check out Celina Mancurti! Any of the linens will be the perfect addition to your kitchen, pinky promise.
And don't miss out, because if you order something from Celina's website starting today September 17, 2014 - September 24, 2014 you can receive 20% off of all orders using the code MYDIARY !
Now you have an excuse to tell your significant other that you "have to" order something because it's basically on sale...
