Spiced Apple Infused Bourbon and Cider Cocktail: My Diary of Us

A Bourbon Dinner: Cocktails and Dessert

You've waited patiently and the moment has come.  It's time for bourbon cocktails and dessert, which is serious business.  Yesterday you read all about the bourbon butter paninis and the salad that has the yummiest bourbon Dijon vinaigrette from the bourbon dinner that I did with Lindsey from Maker's Workshop, but I know what you really want.  It's time for the good stuff.

I don't blame you honestly.  The drink is the whole reason this night was decided upon in the first place.  Lindsey threw out the idea for me to make a cider cocktail using bourbon and we ran with it evolving it from just a drink into an everything must have bourbon in it extravaganza!

Best. Idea. Ever.

Asian Pear and Mint Bourbon Sparkler: My Diary of Us

Asian Pear and Mint Bourbon Sparkler

It's bourbon month so I figured that I better get on board and make you people a cocktail.  Last week whiskey, this week bourbon...what is happening to me?  Regardless, this week has been cray cray to the second degree.  I have seen Canean maybe for thirty minutes each night before we both crash and I have been operating on go mode since Monday.  An Asian pear and mint bourbon sparkler is just what the doctor ordered and I plan on drinking one (or two) of these bad boys tonight to celebrate tomorrow being Friday.

Yesterday I helped a friend out where she works at a local home and garden store.  We built a wood pallet wall which we managed to saw half of (with our bare hands) and a handsaw and did a floor move.  You didn't know I was handy too did ya?

Yesterday I was all "I'm in shape, I won't be that sore", and this morning I'm like "damn, I'm not as in shape as I thought I was" because my body tried to not let me get out of the bed this morning.  It was like I needed some WW40 on my joints.

I definitely deserve a bourbon cocktail for my manual labor yesterday, I'll tell you that much.

Blackberry Whiskey and Sage Cocktail: My Diary of Us

Blackberry Whiskey and Sage Cocktail

I want to love whiskey.  Canean's drink of choice is almost always a whiskey or bourbon drink and it would be a lot more fun if I liked to drink it too, but I'll just lay it out for you...I do not have a taste for whiskey.  Or haven't...until now.  Have you ever had blackberry whiskey?  Well if are a whiskey scaredy cat like me, this is your transition into the hello whiskey world.  And if you already love whiskey, well you are in shock right now that I just told you that usually you will find me far away from whiskey.  My blackberry whiskey and sage cocktail is the crossover cocktail that is going to convert all of us non-whiskey drinkers with the first sip!

With fall nipping at our heels, whiskey seemed appropriate for this week's Thirsty Thursday concoction.  Now if the weather would just cooperate and I don't know...go below 100 degrees sometime soon, I would be one happy girl.  I keep hearing of people saying there is a nip in the air where they live and I couldn't be more jealous.  I converted my closet to fall, I'm mentally ready and the weather is really throwing a wrench in my boot wearing plans.

Muscadine and Rosemary Smash Cocktails: My Diary of Us

Muscadine and Rosemary Smash Cocktails

Man is it Thursday already?  Monday being a holiday really sped my week up and has kind of had me running around like a crazy lady all week.  Please tell me I am not alone here.  I have a couple of really exciting upcoming ventures that I am about to embark on and it has left little time for a moment to myself, but I am not complaining!  Sometimes you need a moment though, so I think today I'll sip on this muscadine and rosemary smash cocktail and take a few breaths.

I have a confession, and it's that I actually have only had one experience with muscadines before this cocktail and it was drinking muscadine wine  (Canean loves it) and I was not a fan.  It was far too sweet for me.  I don't think Cab girls can be muscadine wine girls.  However I'm up for a good challenge and muscadines are in season and readily available in Louisiana right now.  I figure, why not make something tasty and beautiful out of them?

Raspberry and Lime Rosé Sangria Popsicles: My Diary of Us

Raspberry and Lime Rosé Sangria Popsicles

Summer is wrapping up quickly and I have to say that on one hand I am kind of sad, and on the other hand (the hand that is tired of sweating everyday) is getting excited for fall.  I will miss the fresh melons and peaches, the laid back feel that summer brings with it, and the long days full of sunlight.  But I am beyond ready for some cooler weather, my boots, and fall dishes.  To make the most of these last summer days, I figured there was no better way than with refreshing and boozy raspberry and lime Rosé sangria popsicles.

These would be great for your Labor Day celebration and will make the heat a little bit more bearable.  You will fall in love with popsicles in a whole new way after just a bite.  Who doesn't love a frozen, fruity, made from wine treat?

Cucumber Mint Cocktail with Honeysuckle Vodka: My Diary of Us

Cucumber Mint Cocktail with Honeysuckle Vodka

Summer is coming to a close, and while I'm beyond ready for a touch of fall weather, I am not ready to give up refreshing cocktails on a hot day.  And I might not.  This week has been strange because I started my week on Tuesday after getting back in town on Monday and my whole week has been thrown.  A great cocktail is always needed on weeks like these and this cucumber mint cocktail with honeysuckle vodka is going to get me through to the weekend.

I have a new obsession with Cathead Vodka's Honeysuckle Vodka.  It's perfect to make a light and tasty drink and can be mixed with as few or many ingredients as you like.  It's also really good with just club soda and lime.  Nothing wrong with that at all.

Sometimes I like to be fancy though.

I am a cucumber in my cocktail kind of girl and thought that the flavor combination would pair nicely with the honeysuckle notes of the vodka.  I was right.  I also added some fresh mint and lemon juice and the result was a super refreshing drink that I think you are going to love!

I hope you aren't tired of Thirsty Thursdays around here.  I love starting my weekend a day early with a yummy cocktail, and I'm pretty sure if we are friends, you do too.

Cucumber. Mint. Lemon. Honeysuckle. Booze.  Yes.  I'll take two.
