Super Bowl Sunday is approaching and every great game day has to have a great dip to go with it. Seven layer dips are super popular for good reason, but this hot version is even better. This is a recipe that has been made in my family for as long as I can remember and is always one of the most requested game day appetizers whenever I am asked to bring a dish. Layers of beans, taco seasoned meat, sour cream, salsa, olives, and lots of cheese get baked until ooey and gooey in the oven and then topped with fresh toppings and served alongside corn chips for the ultimate game day snack! This truly is the best hot 7 layer dip and once you make it, you will see why.
This hot 7 layer dip can be prepped in advance and then simply popped into the oven before you are ready to serve or before you go to your game day gathering making it extra easy. I love to top it all off with fresh cilantro, spicy jalapeños (can use fresh or pickled), avocado, and green onions. I love to use scoop-able corn chips for dipping, but any corn or tortilla chip will do.
I am telling y’all, this appetizer is so good and couldn’t be any easier to make!
Variations of the recipe:
Use ground turkey instead of beef.
Use refried black beans instead of pinto beans.
Any of your favorite salsas will do, so choose your spice level based upon your salsa preference.
Feel free to omit the olives if you do not like them.
Use any variation of tortilla chips for dipping.
Tips for making this dip:
Make the entire thing in advance and keep in the refrigerator until ready to bake. Simply bake at least 30 minutes before ready to serve since it will take a bit longer to heat through after being in the fridge.
If traveling with this dip, bake it before you leave and then cover tightly with aluminum foil. Add fresh toppings once you arrive so they don’t get wilty and brown.
I can’t wait for you all to give this recipe a try for yourself. Enjoy and happy game day!
